INDOOR FURNITURE CARE
We use tung oil or hemp oil for all our interior products. It smells so much better than synthetic products and is more environmentally friendly and food surface safe. We don't apply any polyurethane finishes on our products for a variety of reasons. If and when anything gets scuffed or you just want to revitalize the piece, its so much easier to do that by reapplying tung or hemp oil over the surface while polyurethane would have to be completely removed before reapplying. Please reach out if you need any guidance on refinishing or just revitalizing our products.
OUTDOOR FURNITURE CARE
As much as we love using tung and hemp oil, it just doesn't seem to hold up as well in the extreme shifting of weather conditions we experience in Oregon. Exterior oil based deck stain seems to be the best product for exterior application. We don't have a specific brand we recommend but stay away from the fast drying products out there as they tend to streak and not penetrate the wood as well in our experience. We have adirondak chairs that we leave out year round in our backyard and they are coming up on 4 years old. Every spring, I usually lightly sand the surface and reapply deck stain and we would recommend that for anything you leave out in the elements to prolong life.
FASTENERS
We are constantly attempting to improve our products durability so the type of fasteners we use change as we have more quality control feedback. Often times with the changing seasons, fasteners that secure two pieces of wood might need to be tightened as the wood expands and contracts. Fasteners that connect metal to the wood should need minimal adjusting and when tightened need to be done with an impact driver or by hand to reduce the risk of snapping the fastener head. Hand tight is what I recommend to avoid that.
